Dr John Hunt and Dr David Jefferson both retired after decades of practicing veterinary medicine in Maine. Dr Hunt had a successful small animal practice in Bucksport on the coast. Dr Jefferson, further south and inland, had a successful large animal farm practice. They had never met.
In 2018 each accepted an offer to teach at York County Community College in York, Maine where they team taught vet tech students. They learned that each had written books, and after two years of friendship, decided to write a book together, this book. They take turns sharing their experiences in this sometimes funny, sometimes serious account of how they became vets, and the ups and downs of their daily practices.
